This is Not a Test: Get to the Bunker!

Yes, you should read that title in the voice of beloved California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Up in the cold, snow covered Lackawanna Wasteland there sits dozens of old corporate and military locations- the only problem? Most of them have been picked clean over the last two-hundred years. So, when one of these old sites suddenly flares with power like the proverbial Christmas Tree it is bound to attract some attention to the scavengers and warbands of the wasteland. Somewhere in that run-down facility sits the computer with the access codes to the vaults and labs deep under the surface- and that means more loot than you can dream of!

Of course there is a catch. Beyond the patrolling warbots still manning their posts around the old NovaTech facility, and the bugs/supermutants/power armored fanatics boring down on the location, there is an even bigger threat. Whatever turned on beneath the ground is also drawing every feral rad zombie and ghoul for miles around like a lamp to a bug. Not only that, but the bunker's automatic occupancy protocols only allows ten individuals to enter before sealing up tighter than an master-level safe.

Who will find the codes? Who will survive the horde? The stakes are high, as everyone left outside when the bunker seals back up will have to take a survival roll like they were taken out of action. The race was on!

The scenic NovaTech facility which is the locus of all of the festivities. The
grey bunker in the dead center is the only safe way down into the rich depths!

My Brunsfield Foragers surge through an old moonshiners compound.

The 501st Brotherhood Expedition takes a moment to do some readings
on the strange stone circle and idol found in the remnants of the Dunwich
Accounting Office before moving forwards. Weird stuff happened here.

The Supermutant Exodus Clan, traveling all the way from somewhere
out west, makes its way through the dense forest to the south.

... and in the wings? The horde. Dozens of radioactive shamblers just
waiting to shuffle their way onto the board, attracted by the sudden power spike!

The foragers have a mixed first turn with activations, clearly with the
warriors attracted to the yummy, colorful mushrooms.

Thrash, the super mutant abomination, immediately begins tackling the
ghoulish invaders while his compatriots make their way to the bunker.

The vanguard of shamblers to between bug and Brotherhood forces.

More zombies!

Weaver and Carpenter attract the zombies while the rest of the foraging
party make their focused way towards the bunker.

Kill one, five more arrive. The abomination fights off
the wave with the help of his smaller friend Ajax.
An irradiator arrives to support its rotting crew!

Brotherhood squire Ryan is mobbed while holding the rearguard...

... and quickly beaten down by the irradiator.

Three arms, two knives- the forager rearguard fights off their radioactive
attackers, even killing one of the monsters.

Crushinator the Docbot braves the horde to fill Ryan with steroids and
adrenaline!

Myrmicas the Psychic Lord instructs his brood to spread out amongst the ruins
to find the access codes- a dangerous proposition.

Slowed down by turns of combat, the Brotherhood position is slowly
overwhelmed by insane amounts of shamblers!

The supermutants form a firing line just as bullet attempts to tie up the
north-most warbot with his body. Pyro the supermutant decides that a
well-placed grenade is a better idea- which takes the bug out of action
while barely scratching the bots paint!

Ryan goes down again, but not before he throws a grenade taking out
a chunk of zombies just off camera!

Pharoah (the painted bug) has found the access codes! Another one of
his buggy-brothers body blocks the ghoul as he makes a break for it.

The other warbot guns down Ladybug before concentrated fire from
the Brotherhood takes it out in a single round, clearing the way for
their own run to the bunker!

Sadly their focus means that they find themselves beset upon by the horde.
The Crushinator goes down, but most of the others can pull away.

The supermutants pour fire into the other Warbot, even supported by an
errant Brotherhood gunman who finds himself in the strangest of alliances!
Still, the bot stays, seemingly impervious to gunfire!

Carpenter is left behind holding the rearguard, and kills another ghoul before
finding himself cut off from the bunker.

A bird's eye view of the carnage.

All of the survivors of the foraging party file into the bunker.

The Lord Reclaimer, John Boyega [8th of his name] finds himself
impossibly mired down in the horde. Amazingly the cannot break
through his power armor once- but he is effectively out of the fight.

Through all odds, the Brotherhood sneaks two of their party into the bunker
and the complex below- Dr. Beardface and Ryan sneaking by the supermutant
locked in combat.

Warbot smash! With its LMG jammed, the giant mechanical
beast can only punch at its foes!

Finally Thrash breaks away from the ghoul horde,
making its way towards its true prey...

... and promptly suplexing the damaged Warbot into the
ground like the champ he is!
So everyone gets a slice of the pie in the end! Using some old Mordheim tactics I managed to ensure that it was one of my bugs who found the access codes, thus making certain that I would get much of my warband inside and safe from the rampaging ghouls. Of course, I also had some choice luck by having the bunker door facing towards my deployment zone which didn't hurt one bit! Bad luck saw the 501st absolutely drowned in ghouls throughout most of the game, while the super mutants were rarely in danger- but couldn't even quite put down the Warbot that would've cleared the way to the bunker. How any of the 501st made it into the bunker amazes me- they really made some clutch rolls near the end there.

The game itself was a ton of fun and besides a few minor scrapes and injuries here and there everyone made it out alive- even those outside the bunker. After the game, I even found that I had the ability to find an ultra-rare item. I'm thinking a Blast Hammer or Power Armor- if I can find any that could fit a Ant/Man hybrid!
