Mechs and This is Not a Test

Some Heavy Gear (Southern Forces) Mechs I acquired in a trade. They
may or may not end up fighting under the auspice of  Osprey's new
'Horizon Wars' ruleset.

I didn't really have enough arms and guns for everyone, so that led to
some of the individuals getting some minor customization like
these two. Gunslinger on the left, Macross Missile Man on the right.
In other news, our new This is Not a Test book arrived from
the kickstarter! Beautiful both outside and in, though I have  yet
to delve into the rules updates yet from the old PDF.

I didn't splurge, sadly, on the miniatures- but we still have some
Giant rats, a mutant, and a DJ to add to the roster.

Now, I had this though while basing the models. I can't think of a reason
why these heavy gear models couldn't stand in as heavily armored bipedal
security or assault robots for TINAT. Just food for thought!

A Groomsman Gift and a Revamped Old-Timer

This is my Red Dragon (or Wyvern, but who's counting), all
nice and painted up to take on all comers!

Standing on a rocky outcropping covered in spoils and remnants of
fallen foes, this beastie looks ready to fight for every last gold coin.

The weapons and scatter are mostly GW, so the scale is slightly off-
who knows what sort of Giants this Dragon has been fighting.

He was a Groomsman's gift from my good friend Ray and I'm
sure he'll see play- whether in KoW, DnD, or Frostgrave!

Now this beastie is an old Crocodile Games Titan Slave. I gave him
an updated paint job, and hope to find some use for him.

Frostgrave and Broken Legions are two possibilities- I've also been
thinking about the possibility of finding a few more to field them as
Cave Trolls for my KoW Varangur!

Apocalyptic Tokens and a Pygmy Super Mutant Commission

Any skirmish game worth its salt needs objective markers! I've
taken a page out of the Frostgrave Treasure book with these- just
replace gold with precious, precious fuel.

Dad builds tank models. and there were a few fuel cans lying
around so... why not? Oh, and a relay/beacon thing from 40k.

The newest commission, a pygmy super mutant warband for This
Is Not a Test made by Prodos miniatures.

Of course I did some converting, starting with the flamethrower- with
an Orc mine on the ground for some extra flavor.

Orange hair and orange fire. Burn baby burn.

Even these small buggers come in Nightkin flavors, like this hunter.

Spear from a Chaos Marauder set, and a cloak-bag thing right
from a kroot plastic kit.

Bigger base? He must be a leader. I envision this guy as a
potential psychic mutant in the warband.

The only conversion here is the meat-hook on his belt from
a chaos Marauder's flail.

A brute reloading after firing off a clip as evidenced by the
pile of casings next to him and the pose.

Severed head from a Chaos Marauder kit. I also apologize for the
overuse of man fingers in this particular post.

This mutant has a melta bomb! He's a bit of a homage to Super
Mutant Suiciders from the games.

Its not a perfect conversion, as you can kind of see, but the illusion
isn't terrible- especially from the front.

Mohawk mutant, in the middle of unloading on some poor
wasteland resident or creature, with casings actively ejecting!

Bang, Bang, Bang~

Finally we have the 'leader'. Swinging around some meat-hooks  he's ready
to lead his brood of freaks into the wastes.

Its hard to see, but the back of his head is covered in a cybernetic metal
plate. Is he being controlled by some other group? Is it the result of
strange primitive surgery? Only time can tell.

A Wedding

So, this past weekend I was proud to be included in the wedding of one of my best friends. As a Groomsman I was able to be there and support my boy Ray on his big day! So... what did we do? Well we played games of course! We were out in the woods at Goose Pond Boy Scout Camp so we couldn't lay down some of the bigger games Ray likes such as Eclipse but between the Best man and myself we rangled up some smaller games worthy of a good send off!

Dining Hall all ready for the big day.

Bear! The ring-dog.

Starting the night of before in the Handi-craft lodge with a
game of control.

The Groom won! Showing the last time he'll ever
have any control- hue hue. Wedding humor.

Next we did some Valley of the Kings.

After what might have been the meanest game of VoK ever, I
managed to come away as the winner with my big ass library.

Love Letter was next. The Best man took this one.

Next, we were in a cabin in the woods. Why not run away from a deranged
Bear-loving killer?

My character, Jody the Virgin. I'll let any jokes there go unsaid. Either
way, we managed to escape the deranged killer!

Finally I tried to escape two deranged aliens in space. The Groom
made sure to kill me dead, dead.

The Groom and his Groomsmen.

Beautiful Wedding site down by the lake at the fire ring~

One of my Groomsman gifts. I'm currently wrangling with
this Dragon (wyvern, whatever) now.

Friends and Family gathered for Ray's big day. Have
a wonderful wedding buddy!

GCC MERCs Warband- The Court of Kings

So, usually I like to only post miniatures that are 100% complete, but I figured that I'd break that rule for something a little special. Here I have my very first Merc Team, representing the GCC (otherwise known as 'THE LAW'). The miniatures are, with slight variations, probably hovering around 90 - 95% level of completion. They need some touch ups here and there and I'm thinking of applying some gloss to their heads/eyes... but the big one is basing. I've never done it before, but I'm thinking about finding some resin bases to give them a nice Sci-Fi feel. If any of you have any suggestions/comments, feel free to share!

Now, fluff-wise, Merc teams often have nicknames. Since I went with a purple and gold motif for my GCC, I thought a 'royal' theme would be fun. Standard GCC metal is replaced with gold as, in my mind, this squad does not try to hide itself. No, they WANT to be seen and feared by their targets. It is said that this Merc unit prosecutes only the most important of cases, oftentimes leading to the ruination of whatever corporate elite they have their eye on. Each carries a code name of some ancient or mythical ruler, and together they are known as 'The Court of Kings'.

Or, at least, that's my WIP fluff. So obviously these guys are for Mercs- but you all know how much I like miniatures with multiple purposes. I chose GCC because they had a very Sci-Fi feel- and I wanted to make sure that I had miniatures appropriate for Osprey Publishings Rogue Stars game in the winter! Maybe I'll leave out the models showing some skin, and have them be some sort of spooky aliens.... or space cops. Of course, I could also maybe use them for my favorite post apocalypse game This is Not a Test as some sort of strange 'Reclaimer' faction. We'll certainly see one way or another! Until then, I just hope I can figure these guys out with getting stomped on by the CCC.

The Court of Kings in their shiny, paper-armored glory.

The Team 'Chief', Hammurabi.

I haven't painted his foot-rest yet- it'll have to wait until I decide how
to base the heroic team leader.

Sneaky 'Agent' Augustus is next, covering most of
his shiny gold with a sensible subtle leather coat.

Well. Maybe not TOO subtle.

Team 'Sniper' Suiko, looking very rough in this picture. She certainly needs/
deserves some work around her edges.

Cloak looks nice though.

Next we have Theodora the 'Recorder', with her faithful camera
drone Arachne.

She MIGHT be my favorite GCC sculpt. Its a tough choice to be sure.

The Hammer man himself, my GCC Tribunal 'Gilgamesh'.

Come to a gunfight with a hammer and a shield? Real smart.

Team Heavy Support Barbarossa.

He brought TWO guns to make up for the Tribunal.

The other option for my favorite model, the Team 'Judge'- Arthur.

He did NOT do well in my first practice game. One shot, broken armor...
and well he managed to stand still and look cool before death.

Team 'Booster' Solomon!

Lots of bags, full of delicious chemicals.

The master of destruction himself, Team 'Demo' Saladin.

Fun pose. Sidebar, while I decide on how I want to to their bases,
I'll probably color their bases for game play purposes.

Last but not least we have Team 'Breacher' Cao Cao.

Naming these boys and girls in purple was a good deal of fun. Hopefully
I'll get the chance to completely finish them soon!
